Hugh Alexander "Alex" Dixon (born February 7, 1990 in Bay City, Texas) is an American soccer player who currently plays for Oklahoma City Energy FC in the United Soccer League.

Career

College and Amateur

Dixon grew up in Humble, Texas. He was a member of the United States U-17 residency program before returning to his hometown and joining the Houston Dynamo academy. Dixon then spent three years at UNC Chapel Hill where he appeared regularly for the Tar Heels.[1]

Dixon also spent the 2010 season with Reading United in the USL Premier Development League.[2]

Professional

Dixon was signed to a professional contract by Houston Dynamo along with Josue Soto on January 19, 2011 as a "homegrown player."[3] He made his professional debut on April 2, 2011, as a second-half substitute for Will Bruin in a 1–1 tie with New York Red Bulls.[4]

He scored his first professional goal on August 20, 2011 with a goal in the 93rd minute to give Houston a 3–2 win over Real Salt Lake.[5] He scored in the 2013 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup but saw limited MLS playing time in three seasons in Houston and was waived after the 2013 season.[6]

Dixon signed with Rochester Rhinos at the beginning of the 2014 season[7] and scored his first goal for the club on May 2, 2014.[8]

In December 2015, Dixon signed with Jacksonville Armada FC of the North American Soccer League.[9]

Dixon joined USL side Oklahoma City Energy on December 8, 2016.[10]
