Aleksandar Wohl an Australian chess player, attaining the rank of International Master.

Chess career

He won the Australian Championship in 1992 ahead of English Grandmaster Tony Miles. In 1989 and 2009 he tied for 1st at the Australian Open Championship. Played for Australia in the Chess Olympiads of 1992, 1996, 2000, 2002, 2006[1] & 2012.

In 2000 he won the Oceania Zonal and qualified for the FIDE World Chess Championship 2000, but was knocked out in the first round by Aleksandr Galkin.[2]

Other successful performances include 1st in the 38th Doeberl Cup Canberra 2000,[3] =1st with Ian Rogers in the 43rd Doeberl Cup Canberra 2005,[4] 3rd in the Master Open Cutro 2006,[5] =1st with Eduard Fomichenko in the 11th Vins du Medoc International Open 2008,[6] 1st in the Schlosspark Open 2009[7] and 1st at Muenchen 2010.[8] He secured 5th position at Commonwealth Chess Championship 2017 held at New Delhi, India.
