Alan Powell (historian)

Emeritus Professor Alan Walter Powell (born 1936) is a historian and author of Northern Territory history.

Career

Alan Powell was the Dean of the Arts Faculty at the Northern Territory University, now Charles Darwin University.

He is now Emeritus Professor of History and Political Science at Charles Darwin University.

He is the editor of the Journal of Northern Territory History. He is also the editor of publications for the Historical Society of the Northern Territory.[1]

In 2013 he was made a fellow of the Federation of Australian Historical Societies

He is a charter member of the Rotary Club of Darwin Sunrise.[2] Powell lives in Darwin, is married and has two daughters.
