Al Ahly Handball team was founded in 1950s by its sons' hands for writing a great history in this sports as usual of Al Ahly SC in all sports.

Al Ahly handball team participate at Egyptian handball league from first moments and that was in 1963 without interruption. The Championship was played under the name of Republic League, The first Championship for Ahly team in Egyptian Handball League in 1973-74. Al Ahly is the most titled with league trophy with 21 time with gold medal, it participate at 6 championships every season Egyptian Handball League, Egypt cup, Egyptian Handball Federation, African Handball Champions League, African Handball Cup Winners' Cup and African Handball Super Cup

Al Ahly have the best record in IHF Super Globe when achieved the silver medal in 2007, for many years Al Ahly preferred to participate in Arab tournaments instead of African tournaments, and this decision made Al Ahly at the top of Arab handball clubs with 8 trophies, Al Ahly was the first team qualified to African super cup in 1994 but Al Ahly withdraw due to prefer participate in Arab Championships

Al Ahly had many good generations of handball but of course the generation of 90'S is the best, who could achieve 6× Egyptian league , 2× Egypt cup , 2× African Handball Champions League and 6 times as champion of Arab Championships, in addition to the great efforts of this generation with the Egypt national handball team

Al Ahly player Gohar Nabil was nominated to Best handball player in the world at 1998 & 2000, and also Sameh abdel warth was chosen at handball world team at 1997.

Kareem Al saaeed is the most decorated player in Al Ahly team with 23 cup .

In the 2016/2017 season, Al Ahly HB touched the sky with one of the best seasons in the history of the team, when the team won five championships from 6 competitions competed in


  • In the beginning of 2018 in January specifically Al Ahly crowned the Egyptian Federation Handball Cup after beat Al Gazira in the final and thus Al Ahly added his second title in this season
  • In the same month Al Ahly crowned A friendly championship of Alshaab club United Arab Emirates after the victory over the Algerian Algeria GS Pétroliers in the final 28-21 [49] , But this friendly Championship is not calculated among the 5 Trophies
  • The month of April 2018 was the Amazing, when it saw the coronation 3 trophies

- On April 12th, in Agadir, Morocco Al Ahly won the 2017 African Handball Super Cup after beat Zamalek SC 29-23, this was the third title of Al Ahly in the season

- On April 22th, Al Ahly won the 2017 African Handball Cup Winners' Cup after beat Tunisia AS Hammamet in the final 31-22, this was the fourth title of this season

- On April 30th, Al Ahly won the Egyptian Handball League after beating Sporting SC in the 24th round, Al Ahly had 24 wins in row (without any loss or a draw), this was the fifth title in this great season.

Home Arena

When Al Ahly start to Create the teams of Handball, Basketball and Volleyball, so they saw it's important to build an arena to host the home matches of these teams. The first time they start to make the designs and searching for funds was 1978, and because of some funding problems the project was postponed. Later, on February 4, 1994 Al Ahly opened his sports hall officially in time of Al Ahly Chairman Saleh Selim

Opening Ceremony After many year of waiting Al Ahly finally achieved his dream and built his sports hall arena, * in February 4, 1994 Al Ahly officially opened his hall in big opening ceremony, The ceremony start with a words from Al Ahly chairman at that time Saleh Selim and declared that the name of the hall would be "Prince Abdalla El Faisl Hall" due to his great efforts and helping that he produced for Al Ahly, and that was in attendance of his son Mohammed El faisl and he received a Commemorative medal The first game held on Al Ahly sports Hall was basketball friendly game between al Ahly and Ithhadd alex, after that they played a Futsal match between Al Ahly old players against El Esmailly old players, and Mohmoud El Khatib and aly abu greisha participate at that match
