Al-Ameen Pre University College is one of the institution in Bangalore, Karnataka, India.[1] It was established in the year 2001.[2] It is under the patronage of Al-Ameen Educational Society which was established in the year 1966.[3] Dr.Mumtaz Ahmed Khan is the founder of the society.[4][5] They have two years Pre University course which is affiliated to the Karnataka Government Pre University Education Board. The college won the St. Pauls annual South Zone Inter-School Hockey Championship in the year 2010.[6] The college have a football team also.[7]

History

Al-Ameen Educational Society was started in 1966 to meet education needs in the city and of the minority Muslim community.[8] Dr.Mumtaz Ahmed Khan is the founder of Al-Ameen Educational Society[9] Mumtaz Ahmed Khan. The college campus located at Hosur Road, opposite Lalbagh Main Gate, Bangalore having 2 parts covering an area of nearly 6.35 acres. In the first part, there are 6 colleges, they are, Al-Ameen Arts, Science and Commerce Degree College, Al-Ameen Institute of Management Studies, Al-Ameen Institute of Information Sciences, Al-Ameen College of Pharmacy, Al-Ameen College of Law and Al-Ameen College of Education. In the second part, primary and higher Secondary school & a Pre-University College. The total strength of both campuses is more than 5000.[10]

About Founder

Dr Mumtaz Ahmed Khan is an Indian humanitarian known for founding the Al-Ameen Educational Society and its corresponding colleges.[11][12]

Khan earned MBBS degree from Madras University, Channai and became a general practitioner. In 1966, at the age of 31, he founded the Al-Ameen Educational Society.[13]
