Ajai M. Ghorpade

Ajaisinh Murarirao Ghorpade (born 16 December 1954) is an Indian industrialist and wildlife photographer and the titular Raja of Sandur State from 2011. He is the grandson of the last independent Raja of Sandur, Yeshwantrao Ghorpade who acceded to India on 1 April 1949.

Early life

Ajai was born in Bombay on 16 December 1954 to M. Y. Ghorpade, the heir-apparent to the throne of Sandur. He had his education at the Sandur Residential School and graduated from the Madras Christian College. On the death of his father on 29 October 2011, he succeeded him as the titular Raja of Sandur.

Activities

Ajai is also an ardent wildlife photographer and industrialist. He is director of the Sandur Manganese and Iron Ores Ltd (SMIORE) and hereditary trustee of Sandur's Kumaraswamy Temple.
