Ahmed Ali Akbar is a Pakistani actor, singer, TV host and former national level tennis player.[1]

Personal life

Ali was born in Rawalpindi to Pakistani tennis coach Muhammad Ali Akbar.[2] Ali played tennis on a national level before pursuing his film career.[1][3] He also played cricket and football at club level.[4]

His younger brother, Abid Ali Akbar, who also plays tennis, has been called "Pakistan’s next emerging hope" in the sport.[5]

Career

He marked his television career at the age of thirteen on PTV's drama Stop Watch, after which he was singing for a progressive rock band for some ten years before going back into acting on some friend's advice, in a play written by Osman Khalid Butt.[6] Ali made his stage debut in 2008 and received critical appraisal for his work.[7] He guest starred in his 2013 debut film Siyaah and started his professional television career in 2014.[8] In 2016 he hosted the inaugural Hum Style Awards.[9]
