Clement Foh Baah, born (February 1983) is a Ghanaian musician and songwriter known as Ahkan.[1] He is a member of the music group Ruff n Smooth[2] with Ricky Nana Agyemang (aka Bullet), manager of Dancehall act Ebony Reigns.

Early life

Ahkan is the third of six children. He was born and raised in Accra to his mother Felicia Nyantaktiwaah. Ahkan started singing as a teenager while studying at Asamankese Methodist. His high school certificate was gained from O'Reilly Senior High School in Accra. Ahkan continued to study at Takoradi Polytechnic in Commercial Arts. There he began writing songs for other artists.

Music career

Ahkan had passion for music at an early age but no established record label was there to support him.

Osrane was discovered in 2001 with singles including Ohi Niwa and Suro Nipa. In early 2005, he had a breakthrough song dubbed 'Eye Asem' (Your Wife & Your Mother song produced by Morris Babyface. Osrane then met Bullet to form a group. That was the beggiging of Ruff N Smooth where Etuoaboba took the name Bullet (Ruff) and Osrane as Ahkan (Smooth). They released their first single, Medi Wo Dwa which was remixed by the late Ebony Reigns as Hustle.[3] Following "Medi Wo Dwa", they also released "Monalisa". Their third single "Swagger" became their first international hit.[4] Ruff N Smooth then became a household name. They performed on almost all the continents.

Solo projects

June 2017, Ahkan announced release of "Barawo".[5] The term Barawo literally means thief talks about thievery.[6] Another single "Amina" talks about the barriers in inter-marriage in the world, especially Africa.[7] Currently "Amina" is among the most popular songs in Ghana.[8]

Collaborations

Ahkan has worked with a lot of artists including Bay C of T.O.K fame, the african dancehall king Shatta Wale, Asumadu and Wizboy. Recently he was featured on a release by Duke, former member of D2.[9]
