African Aurora Business Network

African Aurora Business Network, abbreviated as AABN, is an enterprise development Non-governmental Organization headquartered in Accra, Ghana. The organization assists micro and small scale enterprises (MSEs) and its environment through partnerships, capacity building, creative products and advisory services.[1]

History

AABN was established in 1999 and in 2001 registered by guarantee as a limited liability company in Ghana. AABN has provided business development services for government institutions such as the Ministry of Trade and Industry and Private Sector Development and the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs under the UNDP Gender Programme. They also implemented projects for the International Labour Organisation as well as various clients in Ghana.

2007 ● Entrepreneurship Development Programmes - for members of Focus Network, Koforidua
2006 ● Business Planning Workshop for young entrepreneurs
Market Access Programme for tenants of the Ghana Industrial and Commercial Estate
2005 ● Provided Technical Support to the management of the Ghana Industrial and Commercial Estate towards the development of market access initiatives for small scale manufactures.

● Technical Supporter to the Women and Enterprise Network to publish Newsletter to advocate for safe working conditions in the informal sector of the economy with support from the BUSAC Fund.

2004 ● Provided Business Planning Support towards the establishment of three Garment Factories under the Rural Enterprises Development Programme of the Presidential Special Initiative on Garments.
● Capacity Building Workshop for 150 Women in Micro Enterprises and subsistence farming in Greater Accra and the Eastern Region with the support of UNS/UNDP Gender Programme.
● Implementation of monthly African Bazaar to promote micro-enterprises.
● Launch of Women and Enterprise Network, Accra
● Preparation of Ghana’s Second Progress Report on the Implementation of the African and Beijing Platform of Action.
● Productivity Improvement Workshop for Kantamanto Co-operative Traders and Artisans Society Limited.
● Capacity building for fifty (50) Female Graduates of Vocational and Polytechnic Institutes under UNS/UNDP GENDER Programme for Promoting Gender Equality.
● Presby Youth Self Help Programme- Entrepreneurship Training
● Capacity Building Workshop for 300 Women Entrepreneurs and Farmers in the Volta and the Brong Ahafo Region under UNS/UNDP Gender Programme for Promoting Gender Equality.
