The Adult Industry Awards Database (AIWARDS) is an online database of awards issued by the porn industry to honor pornographic films, actresses, actors, directors, industry professionals, studios, sites, sex toys and more.[1] At the present time AIWARDS is targeted at tracking awards issued only by US sex industry.

As of April 2018 AIWARDS tracks over 100 ceremonies of AVN, XRCO, XBIZ and NightMoves awards.[2]

History

Initially the project was launched on 11 July 2017 with over 4000 winners.[3] According to the owner, it took around two and a half years to develop the database and fill it with the data.

The sources of information about the winners include official press releases, adult magazines and Internet Archive. According to AIWARDS crew, in difficult cases, where the source is ambiguous or some part of the data is absent, a manual reaseach in physical archives is being conducted to gather missing bits of information about the ceremony of interest.[4]

On October 2017 the project's team released a press-release with some interesting facts concerning NightMoves Award show of 2017.[5]

In January 2018 AIWARDS the ability to search the winners by name in the database was added.[6]

AIWARDS.com is partnered with an online adult retailer AdultDVDEmpire.com, which provides media content for the database and pays affiliate commission for the product purchased through AIWARDS.

Research

AIWARDS main goal is to track all the trophies ever issued in sex industry. Specifically, the project aims to find the winners of old and already discontinued awards.

The first step in this direction has been taken right after the initial launch of the website with the identification of the missing winners of XRCO Awards between 1985 and 1993. According to information from X-Rated Critics Organization[7], the winners prior to 1993 was missing and the organization asked anyone who had the information to contact them.

On 16 November 2017 AIWARDS released the full list of the winners in the missing range.[8] During the investigation the project's team studied a fair amount of old magazines (which were bought from old archives), video materials of the ceremonies, photos of that period of time and books.
