Adnan Kovačević (born September 9, 1993) is a Bosnian-Herzegovinian professional footballer who plays as a defender for Polish club Korona Kielce.[2]

Club career

Kovačević made his first-team debut with Travnik on 19 May 2011, replacing Haris Redžepi in the second half of a 2–0 league defeat to Borac Banja Luka.[3] At the conclusion of the 2012–13 season, he decided he'd be moving on from the club. In an attempt to keep him at Travnik, club officials forged his signature and signed him to a new four-year contract that same summer. After reading about the extension in the newspaper, he hired a graphologist to prove to the courts it was not his handwriting, and the contract was subsequently voided.[1]

A few days later, he officially made the move to fellow Bosnian club FK Sarajevo.[4] Kovačević made 59 league appearances over the following four years, helping his club win the league title in 2014–15, as well as the Bosnian Cup in 2013–14.

Kovačević was offered a new three-year deal with Sarajevo after the 2016–17 season, but he made it clear with the team he would not be re-signing.[5] With offers from Norway and Poland on the table, he eventually signed a two-year contract with Ekstraklasa club Korona Kielce in July 2017.[6][7] He made his team debut in a 1–0 league loss to Zagłębie Lubin on 17 July,[8] and quickly became a fan favorite.[1] After an impressive performance in his second match, a draw against Legia Warsaw on 22 July, he was named a member of the Ekstraklasa Team of the Week.[9] He earned a place in the starting lineup, and attracted attention from the likes of Werder Bremen and Hamburger SV by November.[10]

International career

Kovačević appeared in two friendlies with the Bosnia and Herzegovina U21s (against Poland and Macedonia)[11] in preparation for the 2015 UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualification, where he made five further appearances. Bosnia and Herzegovina ultimately finished in fourth place in Group 4.
