Adam Ariel (Hebrew: אדם אריאל; born December 10, 1994) is an Israeli professional basketball player for Maccabi Rishon LeZion of the Israeli Premier League.
Early years
Ariel was born in Jerusalem, Israel. He played for Hapoel Jerusalem youth team.
Professional career
In 2012, Hapoel Jerusalem promoted Ariel to the senior team. Ariel played in Jerusalem for three years. In his third year with Jerusalem, Ariel helped them to win the Israeli League Championship for the first time in their history.
On July 7, 2015, Ariel signed with German club Eisbären Bremerhaven for the 2015–16 season under head coach Muli Katzurin.[1] However, on January 6, 2016, Ariel parted ways with Bremerhaven and joined Hapoel Holon for the remainder of the season.[2]
On July 12, 2016, Ariel signed with Maccabi Ashdod for the 2015–16 season.[3] On July 24, 2017, Ariel signed a one-year contract extension with Ashdod and became the team's captain.[4] In his second season with Ashdod, Ariel helped them to reach the 2018 Israeli League Playoffs, where they eventually lost to Hapoel Tel Aviv. In 31 games played during the 2017–18 season, Ariel averaged 6.8 points, 2.9 rebounds and 1 assist per game, shooting 41% from three point range.
On July 3, 2018, Ariel signed a two-year deal with Maccabi Rishon LeZion.[5]
National team career
Ariel is a member of the Israel national basketball team. On September 13, 2018, he made his first appearance for the Israeli team in a 80–85 loss against Georgia, recording nine points and five rebounds off the bench.[6]
Ariel was also a member of the Israeli Under-18 and Under-20 national teams.
