The Acobamba Province is the smallest of seven provinces located in the Huancavelica Region of Peru. The capital of this province is the city of Acobamba.

Ethnic groups

The people in the province are mainly indigenous citizens of Quechua descent. Quechua is the language which the majority of the population (85.93%) learnt to speak in childhood, 13.83 % of the residents started speaking using the Spanish language (2007 Peru Census).[1]
