Abraham Papalii (born 20 June 1993) is a New Zealand professional rugby league footballer who plays for FC Lezignan in the Elite One Championship competition. He plays at second-row, lock and centre. He previously played for the Sydney Roosters in the National Rugby League.

Background

Born in Auckland, New Zealand, Papalii is of American Samoan descent.[2] He played his junior rugby league for the Glenora Bears as well as rugby union for the Massey Rugby Club, before being signed by the New Zealand Warriors.

Playing career

Early career

In 2013, Papalii played for the New Zealand Warriors' NYC team,[3] before graduating to their New South Wales Cup team in 2014.[4] On 10 November 2014, he signed a 2-year contract with the Sydney Roosters starting in 2015.[5]

2016

In round 6 of the 2016 NRL season, Papalii made his NRL debut for the Roosters against the South Sydney Rabbitohs.[6][7] In November, he joined FC Lezignan in the premier French Rugby League competition, Elite One Championship, linking up with former NRL and Super League player Ben Pomeroy.[8]
