Abnormipterus is a genus of moths in the erebid subfamily Arctiinae.[1] It contains the single species Abnormipterus abnormis.

These moths are generally found in the tropics of South America, burrowing deep into the soil and coming out every few years. They are also considered a delicacy by certain races of South American natives .
