Aasim (born Leroy Watson in Jamaica, Queens, New York) is an American rapper, who first began rapping at the age of 12, and signed his first record deal with Schott Free of Loud Records at 17.[1] While signed to the label, Aasim learned songwriting from Big Pun and Dead Prez but never released any material. When his deal with Loud Records fell through, he moved to Grind Music, and worked the mixtape and local New York radio circuits.[1] In 2004, Puff Daddy heard him on the radio and signed him to Bad Boy Records.

His debut album, Money Pit, was released in 2005, featuring appearances from Black Rob and Fat Joe. Aasim has continued work as a writer for Bad Boy and was featured on Diddy's 2006 album Press Play. He received positive press in Britain for his releases.[2][3] Aasim was featured in the Electronic Arts video game, NBA Live 08, and released a song called "Go Off", featuring Joell Ortiz and produced by Sean C. and LV of The Hitmen.
