AIDAperla is the newest and most modern cruise ship of AIDA Cruises, which was built by Mitsubishi Shipbuilding at their shipyard in Nagasaki, Japan. The vessel was delivered in May 2017 and was christened in June 2017 by its 'godmother', German fashion model and television host Lena Gercke.[1]
Design
AIDAperla has overall length of 300.00 m (984.25 ft), moulded beam of 37.00 m (121.39 ft), and maximum draft of 8.25 m (27.1 ft). The vessel has deadweight of 9,700 DWT and gross tonnage of 124,500 GRT. The cruise ship has 1,643 cabins and capacity for 3,286 passengers in double occupancy. AIDAperla has 16 passenger decks (of 18 total decks), 12 restaurants, 3 snackbars and 14 cafes and bars.
Facilities
Facilities for passengers include a climbing area, water slides, miniature golf, cinema, glass 'skywalk' (45m above the water level), spa and shops. Evening entertainment includes a casino, discotheque and live shows in the theatre which features a round stage, in common with other Aida cruise ships. Panoramic glass elevators connect the outdoor areas.
Food is provided in buffets, snack bars and restaurants where regional-style food such as Asian, French, Spanish tapas and Venetian is offered.
Engineering
The cruise ship AIDAperla is driven by three Caterpillar 12V M43C diesel units, each with power of 12,670 hp. Additionally the ship has one dual-fuel Caterpillar M46DF with power of 11,650 hp and generator Caterpillar 3516B with power of 2,250 kW. The cruise ship operates with service speed of 22.5 kts.
