A.S.D. Romagna Centro Cesena, known as R.C. Cesena and formerly Romagna Centro, is an Italian football club based in Martorano, a frazione of Cesena, Emilia-Romagna. Currently it plays in Italy's Serie D. It claimed as a phoenix club of A.C. Cesena since 2018.

History

Foundation

The club was founded in 1973.[1] The club was known as Polisportiva Martorano.[1][3]

Serie D

In the 2012–13 season, the team was promoted for the first time, from Eccellenza Emilia-Romagna Group B to 2013–14 Serie D Group D, as Romagna Centro.[1][4]

R.C. Cesena

In July 2018, after the bankruptcy of the main football team of the city, A.C. Cesena, a group of local businessmen acquired Romagna Centro and proposed to rename to Cesena F.C., to act as a phoenix club. However, the image rights of A.C. Cesena had not yet acquired.[5] The club also played a friendly match against Romanian club Universitatea Cluj in 2018–19 pre-season.[6] In July 2018, Romagna Centro also announced that the youth sector would trained with former A.C. Cesena players.[7] However, the club was later known as R.C. Cesena, and was assigned to Group F of 2018–19 Serie D.[8]

Colors and badge

The team's colors were lightblue and white.[1][9][10] The club was nicknamed biancazzurri (White-Azure).[1]

Stadiums

The club played their home matches in Centro Sportivo Romagna Centro, located in Via Calcinaro, Martorano frazione.[1][4][10] The club also played their Serie D home matches in Stadio Dino Manuzzi,[11][12] the larger stadium in the city.
