8th International Architecture Exhibition

The 8th International Architecture Exhibition at the 2002 Venice Biennale of Architecture, titled Next, was directed by Deyan Sudjic. Held at the Arsenale and Giardini exhibition venues, it took place from September 8 to November 3. The exhibition attracted over 100,000 visitors.

  • Golden Lion for best project: Iberê Camargo Foundation di Porto Alegre (Brazil) designed by Alvaro Siza Vieira
  • Special prize for best National Participant: Dutch Pavilion
  • Special prize for best architectural works patron: Zhang Xin
  • Special prize for best governative sponsorship: Città di Barcellona
  • Special mention to Next Mexico City: The Lakes Project
