The 2020 ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier is an upcoming cricket tournament to deterimine which teams will qualify for the 2020 ICC World Twenty20 tournament in Australia.[1] Qualification groups began on 26 February 2018 in Argentina,[2] with a total of 62 national teams scheduled to compete. Of these teams, 25 of them will move to the regional finals in 2019,[3] with the top seven teams progressing to the qualifier tournament.[1] They will be joined by the top six teams from the 2015 qualifier but are outside the top ten places in the ICC T20I Championship by the cut-off date of 31 December 2018.[1]

In February 2018, in the opening round of sub-regional qualifiers in the Americas group, both the Cayman Islands and Bermuda registered wins against Argentina.[4][5]

In April 2018, the International Cricket Council (ICC) granted full international status to Twenty20 mens' matches played between member sides from 1 January 2019 onwards. Therefore, all the matches in the Regional Finals and the Qualifier itself, will be played as full Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is).[6]
