The 2019 Grand Prix motorcycle racing season will be the 71st F.I.M. Road Racing World Championship season.
Teams and riders
Team changes
- Tech 3 are to switch to KTM machines, ending their eighteen-year relationship with Yamaha.[20]
- Ángel Nieto Team announced that they will join forces with SIC Racing Team to field two Yamaha YZR-M1 satellite bikes, replacing Tech 3 as Yamaha's satellite team starting from 2019. [25]
Rider changes
- Francesco Bagnaia will be promoted to the MotoGP class, joining Pramac Racing. He will replace Danilo Petrucci, who will move to Ducati Corse.[2]
- Andrea Iannone will leave Suzuki at the end of the 2018 championship after two seasons.[26] He will join Aprilia where he will replace Scott Redding.[27] 2017 Moto3 champion Joan Mir will fill the seat vacated by Iannone at Suzuki.[16]
- Miguel Oliveira will be promoted to the MotoGP class, joining Tech 3. He will become the first rider to come through the Red Bull KTM system to the premier class, having competed in the Rookies Cup, Moto3 and Moto2 with KTM bikes.
- Jorge Lorenzo will leave Ducati's factory team after two seasons to join Repsol Honda. He will replace Dani Pedrosa, who will retire at the conclusion of the 2018 season.[28][29][30]
- Johann Zarco will leave Tech 3 to join Red Bull KTM Factory Racing. He will replace Bradley Smith.
- Franco Morbidelli will join Petronas Yamaha Sepang Racing. He will be partnered by Fabio Quartararo.
- Having competed in MotoGP since 2010, Álvaro Bautista will switch to the Superbike World Championship.
- After two seasons with Aspar Racing Team, Karel Abraham will join Avintia Racing.
