The banned countries were: Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Turkey, Moldova, Ukraine, Belarus and Azerbaijan.[3]

North Korea and Venezuela didn't attend the World Championships as these countries are normally refused Visas for entry into the United States, or United States with North Korea, Venezuela relation crisis.
