Novak Djokovic was the defending champion and successfully defended his title, defeating Andy Murray in the final, 6–3, 5–7, 6–4.
During the second-set tie-break in the semifinal, Fernando Verdasco held five match points against Djokovic; Djokovic managed to escape from 2–6 down to take it 9–7.
Andy Murray became the first man to reach the final of the Qatar ExxonMobil Open four times, however, his loss in the final ended his 28 match winning streak.[1]
