The 1988 Chico State Wildcats football team represented Chico State University[note 1] during the 1988 NCAA Division II football season. Chico State competed in the Northern California Athletic Conference in 1988.

The 1988 Wildcats were led by fifth-year head coach Mike Bellotti. They played home games at University Stadium in Chico, California. Chico State finished the season with a record of three wins and seven losses (3–7, 3–2 NCAC). The Wildcats were outscored by their opponents 205–231 for the season. This was the last season for Bellotti as head coach. In his five years at the helm, Chico State compiled a record of 21–25–2, a .458 winning percentage. Bellotti would later become the head coach for the Oregon Ducks.
