Björn Borg successfully defended his title, defeating his rival John McEnroe in the final, 1–6, 7–5, 6–3, 6–7^(16–18), 8–6 to win the Gentlemen's Singles title at the 1980 Wimbledon Championships, his fifth consecutive singles title at the Championships.^[1] The final of this tournament has often been called one of the greatest matches of all time.^[2] The final was made into a movie named Borg vs. McEnroe
