The 1919 Southwest Texas State Normal School football team represented Southwest Texas State Normal School in the 1919 college football season. Better known for his basketball influences, Oscar W. Strahan became the university's first athletic director, and lead the team to a 4-4 record in 1919. In a career spanning three decades, Strahan’s teams would post a 72-52-10 record. Among the opponents in 1919 was Sam Houston Normal. This season also marked a departure from "academie football" as they entered the "college class."[1] Although these were the first meetings of the two teams, they have played each other 89 times as of 2016.
