The 1. deild kvinnur ("1st division women") is the top level women's football league of the Faroe Islands. For sponsorship reasons, the league will be called Betri deildin kvinnur starting from 2018.[1]

There are currently six teams in the league; KÍ Klaksvík have won 17 championships in a row (2000 to 2016),[2] but EB/Streymur/Skála ended the streak in 2017.[3]

As of 2018, the top division includes six teams, playing each other four times in a season, for a total of 20 matches.[4] The second division includes six teams.[5]
