His debut studio album, God Level, was released on June 26, 2018.[5]

Early life

Jason Jamal Jackson was born in West Los Angeles, California, on July 26, 1987, by the parents of Michael and Lisa Jackson. His father died in a motorcycle accident when Jackson was only a year old, after his family moved to Gardena, California. Where he lived with his mother and siblings until he was in his mid-twenties. As a toddler, Jackson had a series of ear infections which resulted in a Tympanostomy tube.[7] Later, Jackson was kicked out of his home by his mother because he purposely was disrespectful and disobedient of his mother’s rules. He stayed with various friends that took him in with open arms, including his daughter’s mother but later by choice his situation rendering him homeless.[3]He moved to Watts and later to the Jordan Downs Housing Projects in Watts [3]

At age 17, Jackson impregnated his girlfriend. He had been working various retail jobs, but began to sell drugs in anticipation of supporting his child, who was born when he was 18.[3]

Career

Jackson initially used the alias Greedy Giddy, under which he self-produced six mixtapes including the Bipolar series, Everybody Weak, and Money, Powder, Regrets.[3] His early career was heavily influenced by Southern rap with auto-tuned harmonics and melodic trap instrumentals. This early work is fragmented with a handful of recordings on DatPiff, Youtube, and Tumblr.[3]

As Greedy Giddy, Jackson released numerous tracks on Soundcloud between 2014 and 2016. In 2016 Greedy Giddy took up the alias 03 Greedo and released 2 self-produced mixtapes, Purple Summer and Purple Summer 2: Sun Don’t Shine. At that time he started his own label, Golden Grenade Empire. In 2017 Jackson produced 3 mixtapes, Purple Summer 03: Purple Hearted Soldier, First Night Out, and Money Changes Everything.[7]

In 2017 Jackson signed with Todd Moscowitz’s Alamo Records for what he claims to be a million-dollar contract.[3] Under the production of Alamo Records, he released The Wolf of Grape Street in March 2018. Jackson is currently working on a new album, God Level. [1]

On April 30, 2018 Jackson was sentenced to 20 years in prison on drug and gun charges stemming from a 2016 arrest in Potter County, Texas. His sentence begins summer of 2018.[8]

On June 22, 2018, Jackson remixed his single "Never Bend" with fellow rapper Lil Uzi Vert. The song is backed by whirring synths and 808s as Greedo sings, before opening up for Uzi.[9]

Personal life

One of Jackson’s most distinct feature are the words “Living Legend” tattooed on his face.[7]

In 2016, Jackson was arrested in Texas on drug trafficking and possession of a firearm charges. According to a police report, Potter County Sherriff deputies forced open his car's trunk after claiming to smell cannabis and allegedly found "four pounds of methamphetamine and two stolen pistols."[10] 03 Greedo originally faced 300 years for the charges though eventually was sentenced to 20 years in prison, though he could be released in 5 years based on good behavior.[6]
