Žirovnica (Macedonian: Жировница, Albanian: Zheranicë) is a village in the municipality of Mavrovo and Rostuša, Republic of Macedonia.

Demographics

Žirovnica has traditionally been inhabited by a Muslim Macedonian (Torbeš) population.[1] Some Upper (Gorna) Reka Albanian residents from neighbouring Vrbjani have in recent decades migrated to the Muslim Macedonian village of Žirovnica with municipal services in Lower (Dolna) Reka and number some 258 people.[2]

According to the 2002 census, the village had a total of 1608 inhabitants.[3] Ethnic groups in the village include:[3]
