The Çevik Kuvvet (English: Agile Force or Rapid Response Force) is the riot squad of the General Directorate of Security (Turkish National Police). It was established in 1982, replacing the Toplum Polisi.[1] In 2016, a member of the riot police, Melvut Altintas, shot and killed Russian Ambassador to Turkey Andrei Karlov. Altinas lurked behind the Ambassador before shooting him in the back several times.[2]

Equipment includes TOMA water cannon vehicles, Otokar Akrep "scorpion" APCs[3] and the FN 303 "less lethal" weapon.[4]
