Álvaro Betancourt (born 8 February 1994) is a Puerto Rican attacking midfielder for the National Premier Soccer League club Puerto Rico Bayamón.
Alvaro's accurate through passes, long distance shots, and playing intensity have made him famous throughout Puerto Rico. His talent has led some of his peers to call him "The Chosen One," but since his playing style is very comparable to star Barcelona midfielder Andrés Iniesta, some call him the "Puerto Rican Iniesta."
In November 2011, he became part of the Puerto Rico National Team and is considered one of the biggest prospects in America. He made his international debut vs. St Lucia at the age of 17.[2]
