Most thymic carcinomas are CD5+ CD70+ CD117+ (c-kit).
In contrast, thymomas are CD5- (except type B3). Squamous cell carcinomas of other organs are CD5- and CD70-. (Hodgkin lymphoma and nasopharyngeal carcinoma can be CD70+)
Neuroendocrine markers are positive in 2/3 of cases. [1]
