RESURRECTION TO LIFE TO ENACT JUDGMENT

This resurrection is a resurrection to judgment of good and evil actions, and those who have done 'evil' will be judged. There is no categorising of the type of evil or of the degree, it includes all those who are not completely holy. That is, all that is not up to the standard of Yahweh's holiness. 'Evil' is the outworking of the sinful nature whose motivation is from self, and not necessarily that which is apparently evil to man. That which can appear good and righteous in the sight of man, is as filthy rags in the sight of Almighty God if it originates out of the self nature for it's own sense of self-worth. "There is a way which seems right to a man, but it's end is the way of death." Proverbs 14:12

The second resurrection is a resurrection to JUDGMENT! Those coming up in this resurrection will be judged "according to their works"!

John writes of this resurrection: "And I saw the dead [all who ever lived], small and great, stand before God; and the BOOKS were opened [containing the record of their deeds and misdeeds, both good and bad]: and another book was opened, which is the BOOK OF LIFE: and the dead were JUDGED out of those things written in the books, according to their WORKS" Revelation 20:12

The word for judgment here (kriseõs) (rendered 'damnation' in the KJV) but it has the meaning of making a selection, to determine, to form an opinion and to undergo a process of trial (Vine's Expository Dictionary). The sense is that of correction stemming from opinions or decisions given, concerning the relevant actions. In other words, this judgment is a critique of things done, which then brings down a sentence.

The sentence or judgment will be according to the acts of the person and will not necessarily result in complete condemnation for every person, but there will be those who warrant the judgment of 'hell fire'. It will be a process of judgment that will decide each person's eternal destiny.

THOSE INCLUDED IN THIS RESURRECTION

Those in this general resurrection will include many categories of people.

1. All unsaved people who never had the opportunity for salvation -- those who grew up, lived and died in a society which didn't have the knowledge of Yahweh, or His truth. Those who lived and died in ignorance, some in total darkness who never even heard the true Gospel of the Messiah during their lives! At that future time they will be "judged" according to their works. Romans 2:12-13

2. Many who have come to faith, but have either been under the old covenant, or else had not understood the new covenant, and did not enter into a spiritual 'born again' experience, they will be raised at this time.

3. Those who came to faith in Messiah, but who have areas in their lives that will incur judgment and/or were not diligent in serving Him , will in fact be consigned to the second resurrection . 1 Peter 4: 3-5; Matthew 25:30

4. This will also include those who were deceived by false religions that blinded them to the truth.

5. Many of the 'sons of the kingdom' of the House of Judah incurred the punishment inflicted because of their rejection of Messiah. They were the sons of the kingdom who were thrown into outer darkness (Matthew 8:12), and consigned to the second resurrection instead of partaking of the divine nature and being part of the kingdom of priests as intended for the first resurrection (2 Peter 1: 4). They were called to the kingdom but forfeited their call. (Matthew 22:13-14)

6. All hypocrites, those who knew to do good and did not do it but lived in a sinful manner, Y'shua calls "an evil servant", will be raised for judgement (Matthew 24:45-51). Also those who did not obey His Word - Matthew 7:19-27

7. The 'wicked', those entrenched in evil, will be judged at this time, including all those who opposed or completely rejected Yahweh and His Messiah in their lifetimes.

There will be many excluded from the first resurrection who refused to walk the 'narrow way'. Luke 13:23-30

If we would judge ourselves, we will not be judged, Yahweh subjects us to chastening to save us from being condemned with the world. 1 Corinthians 11:31-32 1 Peter 4:17

The lawless and disobedient will have their portion with the hypocrites and the unbelievers. Matthew 7:21-23

THE MILLENIUM

The Eternal Word of Yahweh God will take up His authority to execute judgment and establish the kingdom on earth. "And He Himself will rule them with a rod of iron"; "And with Him the armies of heaven, clothed in fine linen (righteous saints), white and clean, followed Him on white horses." - Revelation 19: 8; 19:14, 15; Isaiah 11: 4; 66:16

He will take His divine authority as King of Kings and He shall reign together with His saints who are raised in the first resurrection, and they will rule with Messiah for one thousand years.

Authority to execute judgment will be given to them to institute His divine government over the earth according to the measure of authority they each have been given, and they shall rule the nations with a 'rod of iron' to bring them under subjection to His principles, statutes and laws. Revelation 20:4; 2:26, 27

They will be empowered with the authority of His Word.

"Do you not know that the saints will judge the world? Do you not know that we shall judge angels?" 1 Corinthians 6: 2, 3

As well as executing authority over His kingdom, they shall be officiating "priests of God and of Messiah" on behalf of the people, according to His eternal purpose to have a "kingdom of priests", or "kings and priests". Revelation 20: 6; 1: 6; 5:10, also Exodus 19: 6 & Isaiah 32:1

"Who is that faithful and wise servant, whom his master will make ruler over his household, to give them their food in due season? Assuredly, I say to you, that he will make him ruler over all his goods." Matthew 24:45, 47

There is a role in this oversight in the kingdom to teach knowledge and instruct in the ways of Yahweh, to give them their appropriate 'food', i.e. to speak a word in season - to exhort, encourage and edify the 'nations' that they might learn to walk in the ways of the Lord..

Satan will be bound during this time period and mankind will be free of his influence on the earth, and yet there will still be those who do not repent from their sin, and who will after the allotted time, be accursed. Revelation 20: 1-3; Isaiah 65:20

Just as there will still be those who will rebel against Yahweh, even after they have seen demonstrated the true knowledge of Him in the earth, have experienced His goodness and benefited from His righteous government. The earth will become filled with the knowledge of Yahweh and the earth will experience its Sabbath rest.

"And it shall come to pass that from one New Moon to another, and from one Sabbath to another, all flesh shall come to worship before Me, saith Yahweh." Isaiah 66:23

ISRAEL HIS SEAT OF GOVERNMENT

There will be a restoration of the whole House of Israel back to the land in a miraculous exodus, although only a remnant of all those born as Israelites will be saved (Romans 9:27; Jeremiah 31:7-8 ), and together both Houses (born again 'Jews' and enlightened Ephraimites - Judah and Ephraim), will defeat their enemies and they will possess their possessions, their eternal inheritance in the land. Isaiah 11:10-16 & 12:1-6; Jeremiah 16:14; Obadiah 17-18

This will be the time of the fulfillment of His promises to the patriarchs and the past men of faith, who looked for that city whose builder and maker was Yahweh. From righteous Abel, Enoch, Noah and Abraham to whom the everlasting covenant promise was made, (which promise we have entered into) who lived as pilgrims in this world awaiting that which was to come (Hebrews 11:10, 13-16). Note - Not all of Israel entered into this covenant.

Abraham was also promised, all the land as far as his eye could see, (as well as being in the New Jerusalem) which he also did not receive in his lifetime even though it was established by an unconditional covenant. Genesis 13:14; 15:7-21; 17:8

Isaac and Jacob and many others were inheritors of these same promises, as well as those who qualify from this age. To this end Paul preached, "warning every man and teaching every man in all wisdom, that we may present every man perfect in Messiah Y'shua" Colossians 1:28

"That your love may abound still more and more in knowledge and all discernment, that you may approve the things that are excellent, that [i.e. in order that] you may be sincere and without offence till the day of Messiah, .. .. being filled with all the fruits of righteousness which are by Y'shua the Messiah." Philippians 1: 9-11

We who are Abraham's seed are the Israel of Yahweh God. The new covenant was made to the Israel of God (Hebrews 8: 8, 10), and there are no racial or in-house distinctions. See Colossians 3:10-11; Galatians 3:26-29; Ephesians 2:12

He will establish His everlasting covenant with His people on the earth, with David as their king, as a prince, ruling from Jerusalem, and His tabernacle will be with them. 2 Samuel 23:5 & Ezekiel 37:21-28 From Chapter 40 through to 48, Ezekiel gives all the specifications for the establishment of the temple and the divisions of the land, and all that is to be set in order for the millennial reign of Messiah through His saints.

The time will have come that the saints possess the kingdom. Daniel 7:22 "Then the kingdom and dominion, and the greatness of the kingdoms under the whole heaven, shall be given to the saints of the Most High. His kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey Him." Daniel 7:27

This has been the expectation of Israel for the kingdom to come on earth, as Y'shua taught us to pray.

"Thy kingdom come, Your will be done upon earth as it is in heaven .. .." Luke 11: 1-4

"Will you at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?" - was the expectation of the disciples at that time. (Acts 1:6) Y'shua said to the twelve disciples that they would sit on thrones, when He took up the throne of His glory, and they would judge the twelve tribes of Israel. Matthew 19:28 & Luke 22:30; Psalm 122: 5

"In mercy the throne will be established, and One will sit on it in truth, in the tabernacle of David, judging and seeking justice and hastening righteousness." Isaiah 16: 5

The kingdom of His House shall be established and the law will go forth from Zion and establish justice and peace on the earth. When His judgments are in the earth. the people will learn righteousness. Isaiah 2: 1-4; 26: 9

All these things which are prophesied in the scriptures are to be fulfilled before Y'shua the Messiah returns to dwell with His people "whom heaven must receive until the times of restoration of all things, which God has spoken by the mouth of all His holy prophets since the world began." Acts 3:21 It is not until the New Jerusalem descends to earth that He comes to dwell with His people. Revelation 21: 3, 22-23; 22: 3-4

THE SECOND RESURRECTION

"But the rest of the dead did not live again until the thousand years were finished" Revelation 20: 5 Upon this scene of the established kingdom on earth, the dead of all ages are raised to life.

"Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away. And there was found no more place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and the books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books." Revelation 20:11-12

There are several books of records as well as the Book of life that will be opened. Daniel said, "I watched till thrones were put in place, and the Ancient of days was seated; ... "The court was seated, and the books were opened." Daniel 7: 9-10

Y'shua said, "There is nothing covered that shall not be revealed, and hidden that shall not be known." Matthew 10:26

and, "For every idle (unprofitable) word men shall speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment. For by your words you will be justified and by your words you will be condemned." Matthew 12:36-37

Even the counsels of the heart will be manifest (1 Corinthians 4:5; Romans 2:16), for it has all been recorded. The only things not recorded are those things which have been sincerely repented of and washed clean by the blood of the Lamb. 1 John 1: 8-10

This judgment takes place at the end of the present "heaven and earth". The present creation flees away from before Him and there is no longer any place for it. Revelation 20:11

After the judgment is completed, John is shown "a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away" Revelation 21: 1

Peter says, "The Day of the Lord comes as a thief in the night in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat, both the earth and the works in it shall be burnt up." 2 Peter 3:10

And the writer of Hebrews, "Yet once more I will shake not only the earth, but also heaven. Now this, "Yet once more," indicates the removal of those things that are being shaken, as of things that are made, that the things which cannot be shaken may remain." Hebrews 12:26b-27; Haggai 2: 6

Those not found written in the Book of Life are cast into the lake of fire. Y'shua warned that both soul and body could be destroyed in hell. (Greek here is 'gehenna', i.e. 'hell-fire' - not 'hades' i.e. 'the grave') Luke 12: 5; Revelation 20:14

Death and the grave will also cease to exist. "Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death." Revelation 20:14

That blessed day will have arrived when "Death is swallowed up in victory" 1 Corinthians 15:54

With death being abolished, the restoration of all things has been completed, and the Son, having completed His work, restores the kingdom to the Father, that He, Yahweh God, may be "all in all". "Then comes the end, when He delivers the kingdom to God the Father, when He puts an end to all rule and all authority and power. For He must reign till He has put all enemies under His feet. The last enemy that will be destroyed is death.." "Now when all things are made subject to Him, then the Son Himself will also be subject to Him who put all things under Him, that Yahweh may be all in all." 1 Corinthians 15:24-26, 28

Of that state of existence we only get small glimpses, of glory unimaginable to our natural minds for which every hardship, trial, suffering or sacrifice rendered in this life will be nothing compared to that sublime glory which will be revealed.

"But as it is written, Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him." 1 Corinthians 2: 9 (quote from Isaiah 64:4)

"Behold the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. And God shall wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away. Then He who sat on the throne said, Behold I make all thing new." Revelation 21: 3-5

"Therefore, seeing all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, looking for and hastening the day of God" 2 Peter 3:11
