A Blue Line train is stationed on the B1 level of 7th Street/Metro Center Station, its terminus.

Located in the heart of Los Angeles, 7th Street/Metro Center Station is one of four transfer stations in the system and one of 6 stations with a concurrency. It is also one of 9 termini in the system.

7th Street/Metro Center is the gateway to many other lines. If one is going downtown from another station on the Blue or Green Line, he/she will almost always make a stop at 7th Street/Metro Center, which could even be their destination. Vice-versa, passengers going out of town in a southerly direction will most likely transfer at 7th Street/Metro Center.

B1Concourse (ticketing, gates); Blue Line platforms
B2Red/Purple Line platforms

B1

After entering the station via one of the entrances around 7th Street, one reaches level B1, which hosts the concourse and Blue Line platforms. Ticketing machines as well as the ticket barriers are located on this level. The Blue Line platform is a side platform; this means that platform 1 and platform 2 are separated by the two tracks. It is possible to go between tracks by going underground past the Red/Purple line platforms or by going over a pedestrian bridge.

B2

The Red and Purple Lines board at level B2. Since the Red and Purple Lines share a concurrency, they share the same track. Red Line trains to North Hollywood and Purple Line trains to Wilshire/Western board at the same track, and Red and Purple Line trains to Los Angeles Union Station board at the same track. In the latter direction, since the concurrency extends to the terminus of both lines, it doesn't matter which train one takes.

Lines Covered

Three lines make a stop at 7th Street/Metro Center, one of which terminates there.

Blue Line

7th Street/Metro Center is the Blue Line's northern terminus. It is also the only Blue Line station that is below-ground and one of 4 light-rail stations that are below-grade (the other three are Memorial Park - below-grade but not underground, Mariachi Plaza, and Soto - all on the Gold Line). To the south, the Blue Line stops at Pico (STAPLES Center), 103rd Street (Watts Tower), Imperial/Wilmington (Green Line), and the Long Beach Loop (souther 'terminus')

Red and Purple Lines

The Red and Purple Line concurrency makes an intermediate stop at 7th Street/Metro Center. Because of the concurrency, passengers bound for North Hollywood or Wilshire/Western board on the same platform. Likewise, passengers for Los Angeles Union Station board on the other platform. (Since the concurrency continues from 7th Street/Metro Center to the terminus, Los Angeles Union Station, if one is bound for Los Angeles Union Station, it doesn't matter which train he/she takes.) The train makes additional stops at Pershing Square, Civic Center, and Union Station (Gold Line, Red/Purple terminus) to the west and Wilshire/Vermont, Wilshire/Western (Purple terminus), Hollywood/Highland (Red only), and North Hollywood (Red terminus) to the east.
