According to Kloekhorst, from Proto-Indo-European *hโ‚‚or-o-, o-grade form of *hโ‚‚er- (โ€œto fitโ€), with the laryngeal neutralized before PIE */o/. Cognate with Lycian [script needed] (ara-, โ€œriteโ€), Sanskrit เค…เคฐเคฎเฅ (รกram, โ€œfittinglyโ€), เค‹เคค (แน›tรก, โ€œtruthโ€), Ancient Greek แผ€ฯฮฑฯฮฏฯƒฮบฯ‰ (ararรญskล, โ€œto joinโ€).
