Etymology

From 구레 (gure, “flank”) + 나룻 (narut, “whiskers”). First attested in the Yeogeo yuhae (譯語類解 / 역어유해), 1690, as Middle Korean 구레나롯 (kwuleynalwos).. 날옷 (nalwos) is an archaic form of 나룻.
