  • Attaches to the continuative form of a verb. The contraction rules for apply.
  • This is the formally correct verb conjugation, but in conversation and casual writing the is dropped and てる is used instead.
  • In formal writing, おり (from おる) is often used for 連用中止, though can be found in some older works.[1]
