Etymology

This aorist's stem is a syncope ἐλθ- of weak stem ἐλυθ- of unused verb *ἐλεύθω as in Epic ἐλῠθεῖν (elutheîn), from Proto-Indo-European *h₁ludʰét (to arrive).[1] Discussion of stems at ἔρχομαι Notes.
