ἄβαξ

Ancient Greek

Etymology

Usually suggested to be of Semitic origin, such as Phoenician -𐤀‬𐤁𐤀‬𐤒 (-ʾ‬bʾ‬q) or Hebrew אָבָק (dust)[1], but Beekes finds this unconvincing.[2]
