Etymology

From Old Georgian სიცხჱ (sicxē), ultimately from Proto-Kartvelian *c₁x- by adding a circumfix whose modern equivalent is სი- -ე (si- -e). Cognate with Mingrelian ჩხანა (čxana), Laz ჩხვაფა (čxvapa) and Svan იშხი (išxi, burning).
