Borrowed from Persian سخت (saxt), from Middle Persian 𐭮𐭠𐭤𐭨 (saxt), 𐭮𐭤𐭨 (saxt). Compare Gujarati સખત (sakhat), સખ્ત (sakht), Hindi सख़्त (saxt), Punjabi ਸਖ਼ਤ (sakḥt) / سخت (skḥt).
