औरत

Hindi

औरत

Etymology

From Persian عورت ('owrat, woman; genitals; nudity), from Arabic عَوْرَة (ʿawra, genitals; nudity; woman). The shift to “woman” is due to the doctrine of some Islamic schools that the whole female body is a form of “nudity” that must be covered in public.
