Etymology

Literally: “He who informs about disbelief is not [thereby] a disbeliever”.

Proverb

ناقِلُ الْكُفْرِ لَيْسَ بِكافِرٍ (nāqilu l-kufri laysa bikāfirin)

  1. (Islam) Used to indicate that one informs about or quotes a heretical opinion, in order to avoid the imputation that merely mentioning it is already a form of acquiescence to it.
  2. (loosely, humorous) Used to distance oneself from something one informs about or quotes; don't shoot the messenger.
