مُغْرَة (muḡra) f

  1. colour inclining to red, ochre
    • 7th century CE, Sunan Abī Dāwud, 34:52:
      كُنْتُ يَوْمًا عِنْدَ زَيْنَبَ اِمْرَأَةِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَنَحْنُ نَصْبُغُ ثِيَابًا لَهَا بِمَغْرَةٍ
      kuntu yawman ʿinda zaynaba imraʾati rasūli l-lahi ṣallā llāhu ʿalayhi wasallama wanaḥnu naṣbuḡu ṯiyāban lahā bimaḡratin
      I was with Zaynab, the woman of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), and we were dying her clothes ocre.
