Derived from the active participle of أَضَاءَ (ʾaḍāʾa, to illuminate, to cast light upon), from the root ض و ء (ḍ-w-ʾ).

مُضِيء (muḍīʾ) (feminine مُضِيئَة (muḍīʾa), masculine plural مُضِيئُون (muḍīʾūn), feminine plural مُضِيئَات (muḍīʾāt))
