فَصّ or فُصّ or فِصّ (faṣṣ or fuṣṣ or fiṣṣ) m (plural فُصُوص (fuṣūṣ))

  1. gem, fine stone
    • 7th century CE, Sunan an-Nasāʾiyy, 48:241:
      كَانَ خَاتَمُ النَّبِيِّ مِنْ فِضَّةٍ وَفَصُّهُ مِنْهُ‏.‏
      kāna ḵātamu n-nabiyyi min fiḍḍatin wafaṣṣuhu minhu.
      The ring of the Prophet was of silver, and its gem was of it alike.
  2. clove, segment (of garlic, mandarins and such)
  3. (anatomy) lobe
