From Middle Persian dstk' (dastag, bunch, bundle, group; handle). Akin to Old Armenian դաստակ (dastak), տստակ (tstak), Arabic دَسْتَج (dastaj), Classical Syriac ܕܣܬܩܐ (dastəqāʾ), all Iranian borrowings.
