بَيْدَاء (baydāʾ) f (dual بَيْدَاوَانِ (baydāwāni), plural بَيْدَاوَات (baydāwāt) or بِيد (bīd) or بَيَادٍ (bayādin) or بَيَادَى (bayādā))

  1. (literary) desert, waterless desert
    اَلْخَيْلُ وَٱللَّيْلُ وَٱلْبَيْدَاءُ تَعْرِفُنِي / وَٱلسَّيْفُ وَٱلرُّمْحُ وَٱلْقِرْطَاسُ وَٱلْقَلَمُ
    al-ḵaylu wal-laylu wal-baydāʾu taʿrifunī / was-sayfu war-rumḥu wal-qirṭāsu wal-qalamu
    The steed, the night and the desert all know me / As do the sword, the spear, the paper and the pen.
