اِغْتَرَبَ (iḡtaraba) VIII, non-past يَغْتَرِبُ‎ (yaḡtaribu)

  1. to be in a foreign land
    • زُهير بن أبي سلمى
      وَمَنْ يَغْتَرِبْ يَحْسِبْ عَدُوًّا صَدِيقَهُ ... وَمَنْ لَا يُكَرِّمْ نَفْسَهُ لَا يُكَرَّمِ
      waman yaḡtarib yaḥsib ʿaduwwan ṣadīqahu ... waman lā yukarrim nafsahu lā yukarrami
      And whoever be in a foreign land assumes his enemy his friend ... and whoever does not honour himself [will] not be honoured [by others].
