הִכָּה • (hiká) (hif'il construction, passive counterpart הוכה \ הֻכָּה‎)

  1. to hit, smite, strike.
    • Exodus 12:29, with translation of the American Standard Version:
      וַיהוה הִכָּה כָל־בְּכוֹר בְּאֶרֶץ מִצְרַיִם
      vaYHVH hiká chol-b'chór b'érets mitsráyim
      that Jehovah smote all the first-born in the land of Egypt
    • 1 Kings 20:37, with Young's Literal Translation:
